Product variants (size, color & more)

Updated

When a product comes in different options — like sizes or colors — you can add variants so customers pick the exact one they want at checkout.

Steps

  1. Open the product (or start a new one) and go to the Variants tab.
  2. Choose which attributes apply: Size, Color, Material, and/or Style. You can use one or several together.
  3. Add a variant row for each combination you sell.
  4. For each variant, set its attribute values (for example, Size = M, Color = Red) and an Original Price. Add a Discounted Price if it’s on sale.
  5. Enter the variant’s stock, and use the active toggle to show or hide it.
  6. Drag rows to set the sort order — that’s the order shoppers see the options in.
  7. Save the product.

On the product page, customers choose the variant, and the matching price and availability are shown.

Note: When variants exist, stock is tracked per variant rather than for the product as a whole.

Set a default variant & variant images

You can control which variant is preselected when a shopper opens the product, and show a matching image as they choose.

  1. In the variant table, use the Default column to select one variant. That variant is preselected on the product page, with its price and image shown first. Selecting it again clears the preselection.
  2. In the Image column, select a variant’s image cell and pick one of the product’s uploaded images to tag it to that variant.
  3. On the storefront, when a shopper selects that variant, the product gallery jumps to its tagged image.

Note: Only one variant can be the default. Variant images are chosen from the images you’ve already uploaded to the product, so upload your photos first, then tag them here.
