App updates

The merchant app checks Google Play for a newer version when it starts. You never have to hunt for updates yourself — the app tells you when one is ready.

What you will see

If an update is available, a banner appears on the Dashboard:

• Update — downloads the new version in the background. When the download finishes, a message appears with a Restart button. Tap it and the new version installs; nothing else is required. If you skip the Restart, the update installs the next time you close and reopen the app.
• Later — dismisses the banner for now. The app works exactly as before, and you will be offered the update again next time you open it.

Downloading in the background means you can keep taking orders while the update arrives.

Good to know

• The check runs at most once per app session, so you will not be nagged repeatedly.
• Updates come only from Google Play — if you installed the app outside Play, the banner will not appear, and you should update manually.
• If a release ever contains an important fix, we may ask you to update promptly through this same banner.
